Innovation and Science Counsellor, Embassy of Sweden in New Delhi

Maria joined as the Innovation and Science Counsellor at the Embassy of Sweden, New Delhi in October 2017. In her role as Head Office of Science and Innovation India, she is responsible for delivering a vision for a stronger Sweden-India research and innovation and higher education partnership, working with key stakeholders to achieve impact. Maria’s role is to develop and implement strategies to strengthen Sweden’s engagement with the innovation, science, research and education systems in India. She worked closely with Indian Government stakeholders for negotiating and signing of the Joint Declaration on Sweden-India Innovation Partnership for a Sustainable Future.

Prior to joining the Embassy, Maria worked at the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth. Maria has also worked at the European Commission and as Managing Director for a Swedish regional representation office to the EU.
