Mr. Uday Kumar has just a few weeks ago demitted the office of Administrative Member, Central Administrative Tribunal, Principal Bench, New Delhi – a position that entitled him to the status,  responsibilities and privileges of a High Court Judge.

Mr. Varma belongs to the 1976 batch of the IAS. He has extensive administrative experience at the highest levels of administration both in the state government (of Madhya Pradesh) and central  government. Prior to joining the Tribunal, he held the position of Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B), Government of India as well as Secretary, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME). He has held practically all key positions in government administration with distinction, beginning as Deputy Commissioner/Collector in three districts, Commissioner in the departments of Women and Child Development, Industries, Health, Principal Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary in Madhya Pradesh and as Joint Secretary, Additional Secretary and Secretary in Government of India.
